The stupidity of NY politicians never ceases to amaze me. I have read about 15 articles today about this so-called “sugar tax” and I have to tell you the New York Governor has risen to unmeasurable heights of stupidity.
Taxing sugary foods will do absolutely nothing to curb the obesity problem in New York. What it will do is put a strain on an already fragile economy that has hit local grocery and convenience stores. Say what you want about how High Fructose Corn Syrup has been the cause of obesity but you’re placing blame and punishment on the wrong people. Beverage companies have every right to make their product. We as an intelligent or semi-intelligent people have every right not to drink their products.
Taxing the products will not cure obesity… ever. Did banning trans-fats in restaurant food cure it or make people healthier? No.
The really stupid people, some of them are supposedly dietitians who point to what the smoking ban has done, and I ask what has it done? Is lung cancer eradicated in NYC and other cities banning smoking. No not really. Is Cancer still one of the top three diseases we die from… of course it is.
Let’s realize this tax for what it is and save the rhetoric for some other bullshit! This tax is being created because it’s easier to go after beverage companies than fat people. If New York wants to curb the obesity problem start doing something you don’t have the balls to do… tax fat people.
Imagine if you will, me, sitting in the waiting room of my doctor’s office wasting the good part of another gray and rainy day here in good old Cincinnati. Side note: I’m kind of surprised there aren’t more suicides here, like Seattle. There I am, waiting for the nurse to call my name so my doctor can tell me not to come back for another 15 years like the idiot always does. I am not ill or contagious with anything I just make an appointment every year on or around my birthday to get a physical. I started this ritual back when I was 33 because I had to get something called “Key Man” insurance for my company askROCCO Media. In case some hateful fat person decided to “whack me” me my investors wouldn’t sign the papers without it. So there I am waiting, listening to the best of the Bee Gees and Olivia Newton John. I guess that’s supposed to be calming but all it did was make me want to jump out of my chair and strangle some little annoying rug rat and his mother.
Now the reason for strangulation was not actually the annoying tapping or throwing of the “BaBa”, no I can handle unruly behavior, shit!, I’m the King of it. No, strangulation is a very well thought out form of homicide as well as a harsh way to go. So, if I’m contemplating strangling someone it better be rich.
The “BaBa” throwing kid’s mother is conversing with the nurse about how hard it is to keep her kid, who can’t be more than 3 years old, from gaining weight. That it is too difficult to go to work each day…this is what I’m listening to…work 8 hrs, cook, clean, walk the dog, pay bills, shop, and a host of other things that were laughable. She was literally too busy to make sure that her 3 year old, that’s right 3 “F**kin’” year old child, had healthy food. She’s too busy to cook for him. He’s 3 years old, how much food is he consuming, tell me…a side of beef, maybe he ingesting small puppy’s that visit the backyard. How much? I probably shit more than he weighs. So it can’t be that much. What is she feeding him that he weighs nearly 30 pounds more than he should? I don’t even know how much 3 year olds weigh anymore, 20 lbs, 25 lbs. She gotta be feeding him “Hot Pockets” by the truckload! …So this kid weighs nearly 50 lbs…the size of a small woolly Mammoth at 3 years old and his mother can’t control his eating. Did I tell you, this kid’s 3 years old. What parent in their right mind can’t control the eating habits of a 3 year old? Is the fast food fairy coming in and serving up juicy flame broiled junior whoppers to our little friend. Is he getting them served his way? Who is this elusive fairy, I want a piece of her (or him depending on how you roll) too.
If you can’t find the time to make sure your child, whom you bore and gestated for almost 10 months, than you need to rip out every last sexual organ you have left. Or cut the penis off the man who is not helping you, because you need not procreate…EVER. This is a travesty that children who cannot take care of themselves are left to die horrible, ill stricken, embarrassing deaths because their idiotic parents didn’t have the time or wherewithal to care about the health and welfare of their child. Make no mistake allowing your child to get fat is CHILD ABUSE and should be punishable as such.
Lawmakers again, get your heads out of your ass and start mandating that parents actually become responsible for the children they bring into the world. Maybe the children can grow up healthy and not place such a burden on the already obliterated health care system.
There are many sides of this coin. I have used steroids only once in my life and it scared the hell out of me when I was 17. I had a near career ending shoulder injury and wanted to wrestle so bad I could taste it. A doctor that used to train at my gym told me that something called “Winstrol” could fix the muscle tear in my shoulder. So I took it. The results were amazing. Within 2 days I was back at wrestling practice and throwing people around the mat. That’s where it scared the hell out of me. My way of thinking back then was that if this worked on muscular repair the way it did then it could wreak havoc with the rest of the muscular system. I abstained. A friend of mine from way back wrote a book called “Death in the Locker Room“, his name is Bob Goldman. After reading the book I convinced myself I was correct to not get involved with Anabolic Steroids.
I am a huge research freak. I don’t think many people do as much research as me on controversial subjects. The research shows by all the agencies that the video showed, as well as 20 different accredited University studies. Here is just a tidbit from Dr. Stephen Kirshner, MD, Residency Program Director, Professor of Clinical Medicine, Department of Medicine, Section of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Louisiana State University School of Medicine
“Almost with their inception, testosterone and anabolic-androgenic analogues have been used and abused by those seeking to augment both anabolic and androgenic potential to improve physical performance in athletic endeavors or to improve physique. Stories of Eastern-bloc athletes receiving testosterone and anabolic-androgenic steroids as part of their training regimens as early as the 1950s abound. The Eastern-bloc weightlifters and track athletes subsequently ruled the athletic stage for decades.
The degree to which anabolic-androgenic steroids affect performance enhancement in healthy athletes is widely debated, as are the precise mechanisms of action. Certainly anecdotal evidence, including increases in strength and lean body mass (LBM), is reported, but steroid effect is difficult to study in a true placebo-controlled double-blind fashion. Most athletes would notice testicular atrophy if receiving anabolic-androgenic steroids, which interferes with the double-blind structure. Dosing, nutrition, and training parameters would need to be monitored extensively to completely satisfy the most critical review.
Certainly, the use of anabolic-androgenic steroids has become a worldwide phenomenon, slowly trickling down to collegiate, high school, and even junior high levels. The early assertion from the medical community that “anabolic steroids have not been shown to enhance athletic ability,” still in print in the 2002 Physicians Desk Reference, contributed to this phenomenon. Technically, the statement is correct; however, people misusing and abusing these drugs quickly realized that the performance-enhancing effects were real and subsequently dismissed the rest of the medical community’s contraindications, dosing recommendations, and warnings.”
The reality is that Steroids can be harmful when used by adolescent boys because of the massive production of testosterone being produced in their own bodies during puberty. Introducing synthetic testosterone can limit production in the future and can minimize masculine characteristics promoted by naturally produced testosterone. With that said, I don’t think women should use them unless they want to take on the male characteristics set forth through testosterone. This is going to be weird to write but there really is no evidence that anabolic steroids are harmful to adult men over the age of 25. Every death to bodybuilders, football players and other athletes group steroids in the death but the death usually was caused by another drug that was used such as diuretics.
I am by no means promoting the use of steroids but there is absolutely no evidence that supports the claims that steroid use can cause death or proposed maladies. The only reason why steroids are a big issue is because America’s pastime is getting a black eye from it…and it’s a great diversion from what Congress should really be doing…making and passing laws. I wonder what is actually going to come from all of this? Oh that’s right, nothing.
